After failing extra time in Boston, the Pacers hosted the Celtics on Wednesday night to wrap up their home set. To see also : Does Indianapolis have a train?.

Although the Pacers (15-27) fought valiantly, Boston (21-21) turned its attack into another gear. The guests used seven triples in the first quarter to jump to a 10-point lead. From there, Boston controlled the game and took a 119-100 win. The blue & amp; Gold has never driven.

Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum both earned top marks again. The duo lost 34 and 33 respectively. Aiding their efforts tonight was Dennis Schroder. Starting in relief with Marcus Smart, the German-born guard counted 23. No other player has finished in double figures for Boston.

Four Pacers finished in double figures. Myles Turner led the way with 18 points and four rebounds, while Domantas Sabonis added 17. In his first return game from health and safety protocols, Caris LeVert scored 16 points with 6 of 9 and four assists. Justin Holiday scored 13.

“It was definitely great to be back out there,” LeVert said. “Being in solitary confinement is hard for anyone who has had to. I’m just happy to be back with the team.”

Poor over-arching shooting was a key statistic. The team pulled a seasonal low of 19.4 percent (7 of 36) from deep. Holiday was the only Pacer with more than a 3-point shot. Still, LeVert said defense was the main issue tonight.

“We’ve been in scramble mode all night,” he said. “We didn’t get close to their shooters hard enough.”

Boston finished 18 out of 38 (47.4%) from beyond the arc.

Early on, the Celtics claimed a subtle lead after the first four minutes using four starting three-pointers, three from Tatum. On Monday, the two-time All-Star shot 0 for 7 from deep. Tatum’s third trey with 7:32 to play gave Boston a 16-9 lead and resulted in an Indiana timeout.

Tatum continued to be a problem for Indiana’s attack midway through the first quarter. The guard dropped another five, including his fourth trey, to push Boston up 26-15 with 4:57 left.

The Celtics rarely missed from deep throughout the frame. When Jeremy Lamb sank a three to reduce the lead to 30-21, Schroder immediately responded with seventh place from the Celtics. He sent the Blue & amp; Gold in another double-digit hole with 2:47 remaining.

Sabonis’ left-handed color and Oshae Brissett’s drive-and-finish seemed to be the start of a late run. But the madness stopped. Boston led 35-25 after the first quarter. They finished with 64.7 percent from the field and 70 percent from the deep.

The Pacers closed the gap at 37-31 after Justin Holiday sank five in a row in 25 seconds after the 10-minute pass. However, Brown quickly wiped out the momentum after losing eight people with no response. A 29-foot snipe with 7:41 remaining extended Boston’s lead to 14 and forced another Pacers timeout.

Some nice frantic plays from Myles Turner, including a gritty return slam, kept the Celtics from growing. So, the Pacers started cutting the gap. Gathering his energy, Lance Stephenson batted in consecutive buckets to reduce the gap to 52-43 at 3:39.

The brands started a 10-2 Pacers run that brought the team to under five in the stretch. Sabonis counted the last six of the frame, bringing the Blue & amp; Gold returns immediately in this match with two quarters to go.

The Celtics opened the third with six in a row at 1:29 to thwart Indiana again. Brown added a 7-foot float to lengthen the stroke to eight and make it a 62-49 ball game.

Shortly thereafter, Schroder tacked two more triples on Boston’s total and extended the lead to 68-53 with 7:38 remaining.

The Pacers weren’t able to dent much in the minutes that followed. Turner attempted to start a spree, dropping two identical turnaround bank shots in a span of 28 seconds. But the crime stopped once again. The team fell victim to a 3:05 goalless streak until Sabonis scored a couple of free throws with 1:46 remaining.

The blue & amp; Gold cut five off the sidelines behind a three from Holiday and a massive slam from Brissett. However, the defense put Tatum on the line with 4.1 seconds left. Boston led 87-71 after three.

Although Sabonis and Holiday took a hit, Tatum scored the top six points for the Celtics to maintain a comfortable lead. Brissett got a triple to drop at 10am to make it a 93-78 game. But Richardson sank a triple in a second chance to deny it.

As the final frame approached the halfway mark, nothing changed. The Pacers couldn’t find any attacking pace and Boston slowly stretched the lead to 98-79. The Celtics scored the mark of the century on Tatum’s three-point play with 6:06 to play.

Mimicking the first half, Brown saw two more treys fall into the net on consecutive Celtics possessions to take the lead to 109-87. From there, Indiana pivoted to her deep bench to finish the game.

Goga Bitadze earned his first points out of health and safety protocols with a dunk at 3:44. Isaiah Jackson also scored a free throw to get on the scoreboard.
