Belstra Milling eliminated from ‘Coolest Thing Made in Indiana’ contest
DeMOTTE — After surviving the first round of Indiana‘s Coolest Things Contest, Belstra Milling Co. was eliminated in the second round.
The contest kicks off January 10 with 65 companies from about 50 communities and 35 counties across the state.
It is sponsored by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and CPA MCA & Advisory, and celebrates the state’s long manufacturing history. This allows the company to showcase unique products made in Hoosier State. It’s for companies that make all sorts of things — from businesses that have been around for decades to start-up entrepreneurs.
The DeMotte-based company is the sole representative of Jasper County. No representatives from Newton or White counties.
Entering companies face off in a single-elimination bracket format with the winner being chosen through public fan voting. Each winner advances to the next round to reach the coveted four finals and overall champion Indiana’s Coolest Thing.
A voter may vote only once per game per round. The product that receives the highest vote in each match moves on to the next round. The number of votes received will be reset at the start of each round.
For fairness, matches are generated via an online randomizer.
Belstra Milling Co. pitted against Anchor Industries, which manufactures fire shelters for the US Forest Service and assists wilderness firefighters with protection from radiant and convective heat if they become trapped in the field. The company is based in Evansville.
Belstra Milling Co., an animal feed manufacturer since 1954, incorporates its product, NatureServe duck starter/grower, which is made with fresh ingredients, prebiotics and probiotics to promote digestive health and essential oils to help support the ducks immunity.
The contest ends at 10pm. February 14th, with a champion announced the following day at the Indiana Chamber Day Event.
