WILLIAM SIMMONS TO BE SWORN IN AS INDIANA MAYOR TONIGHT

The new mayor of Indiana Borough will be sworn in tonight.

At tonight’s 6:30 a.m. reorganization meeting, new mayor William Simmons will be sworn in by Indiana County Judge Michael Clark. Simmons was elected mayor of Indiana Borough after a close rivalry between him and then-mayor Joseph Trimarchi. The count dropped to an eleven-point margin, with Simmons leading the way when Trimarchi ran for office the next day, saying he could not make up the difference.

Simmons is a former member of the Indiana Borough Council and is also the current president of the Indiana Fire Association.

After being sworn in, Simmons will be sworn in by members of the Indiana Borough Council. The City Council will then elect the President and Vice President of the City Council before proceeding with its regular meeting at 7:00 p.m. The procedure will also be available online.
